Born on 18th July 1996 in Mumbai, Mandhana’s cricketing journey began under the nurturing guidance of her father, Shrinivas Mandhana, and brother, Shravan Mandhana, both of whom played cricket at the district level. Hailing from a Marwari family, Mandhana grew up in Madhavnagar, Sangli, Maharashtra, where she honed her skills and flourished in the cricketing arena.

Mandhana’s early achievements are etched in cricketing history. At the tender age of eleven, she earned her spot in Maharashtra’s Under-19 team, showcasing her prodigious talent. However, it was her groundbreaking performance in October 2013 that catapulted her into the spotlight. Mandhana became the first Indian woman to score a double hundred in a one-day game, a feat accomplished while representing Maharashtra against Gujarat in the West Zone Under-19 Tournament.

Her meteoric rise continued as she excelled in domestic and international competitions, earning accolades and admiration along the way. Mandhana’s journey transcended geographical boundaries when she ventured into the international cricketing arena. In 2016, she made history by becoming one of the first two Indian players to sign a contract with the Women’s Big Bash League, representing Brisbane Heat. Despite facing setbacks due to injury, Mandhana’s resilience and determination remained unwavering, propelling her towards greater heights.

Her foray into international leagues further solidified her status as a global cricketing icon. Mandhana’s stint with Kia Super League’s Western Storm and Hobart Hurricanes in the Women’s Big Bash League showcased her versatility and adaptability on foreign soil.

In February 2023, Mandhana’s journey came full circle when she was acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a record-breaking bid in the Women’s Premier League auction. Not only did she secure a hefty contract, but she also assumed the captaincy, underscoring her leadership qualities and strategic acumen.

Off the field, Mandhana remains grounded and deeply connected to her roots. Her family’s unwavering support, with her father overseeing her cricketing endeavors and her mother managing her dietary and organizational needs, reflects the importance of familial bonds in her life.

Beyond her cricketing achievements, Mandhana’s impact transcends the boundaries of the cricket pitch. As a role model for young girls aspiring to pursue sports, she embodies the values of perseverance, determination, and resilience.
